Report from the Cuteness
Whew, it’s nine pm and I finally have more than a couple minutes to sit and get down some actual writing.
Baby Ball is acting all supercute, of course. He was wide awake for about three hours after the delivery but has since fallen into a baby coma with only a couple of brief periods of awake.
He hasn’t really cried so far, only a couple of times while the nurses were poking and prodding or bathing him.
We’re in the post-birthing room now. It’s about a third of the size and is much less well decorated. My very long comfy couch has been replaced by a moderately comfortable recliner.
Right now baby is asleep, but practicing sucking on his left hand. Come to think of it, he’s mostly been using his left hand. How sinister :-)
His name is Edward, which is awesome because it has a ton of potential nicknames. He weighs something like 7.8 pounds and is 20 inches tall (maybe, I don’t quite remember).
He is a veritable font of cuteness. So adorable!
Sarah is doing very well and is, like the baby, resting peacefully.
We are rooming in with Edward so I have to take awake and alert until midnight to keep an eye on him.

Yeah, cute cub-ed. And cuddly. Just got back from the new baby viewing jaunt. We left around 6:30, got to the hospital around 11, stayed ‘til midnight. Great visiting hours! I am so glad the president of the NC Senate lives here, because the roads are ever so much better now than when we first started making those Triangle trips.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re Mommy and Daddy now – isn’t that amazing?! Edward is adorable. Way to go Sarah Ball – you did it! ! And Stephen, too. I know how difficult a job it is to be a birth partner. Edward is totally adorable.
We’re all smiles at our house thinking about the Ball family of 3. Having a newborn is the most fun – we wish Rosie could stay this way a little longer, because it’s such a cute age.
Please call us if you need anything – to talk or if you need us to bring something by! We look forward to bringing a meal to your house soon! My cell # is 857-719-6163.

Congratulations Sarah and Stephen!
My mom sent me a link to the blog. Edward (or will it be Ed or Eddie or something of the like?) looks very cute in the picture.

Congrats Dyott and Sarah. Stephen, one of the great secrets of birthing centers is the bait and switch from the birthing room to the broom closet. It’s like, “we’ve got the baby and $25,000 dollars out of you so we’re going to move you to your post birthing broom closet.” Edward, Eddy, Ed, Dyott 2.0, Eduard, Eduardo, Edvard, Edvardas, or just plain Kid….whatever you call him he is cute and yours and you will learn that you never knew you could love something as much.
Just remember, I’m always here to offer bad advice.

YAY! I have been thinking of the two of you all week, wondering when the big day would come! I am so excited for you! It has been a prolific year for babies! He is so cute and tiny! I love the little ones! And go him for demonstrating the left-handedness early on! Just shows he is advanced- most kids don’t show dominance til around 4! We will have to do a meet and greet with our next generation of Tar Heels! Hugs, Laura
